Tuesday EPL Results: City Shocked At Newcastle, Solsjaer’s Perfect Run Ends

Tuesday night in the Premier League saw a total of 20 goals scored in six games as there was a huge twist in the title race, the end of a perfect start and an emotional night at the Emirates Stadium.

City Stunned

Manchester City were stunned by Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United with a shock 2-1 defeat. The win took the Clarets five points clear of the relegation zone.

Sergio Aguero had given City the lead just a minute after kick off but a 66 minute equaliser from Salomon Rondon and a late penalty from Matt Ritchie secured victory for Newcastle.

Pep Guardiola’s men failed to close the gap on Liverpool to just a point, handing the Reds an opportunity to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League table when they meet Leicester City on Wednesday.

Perfect run ends

It was a tense and dramatic atmosphere at Old Trafford as Manchester United pulled a comeback to salvage a 2-2 draw against relegation battlers Burnley.

The draw ended Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s eight-game winning run in all competitions as Manchester United’s interim manager.

The Red Devils were trailing Burnley 2-0 down until a Paul Pogba penalty in the 87th minute handed United a glimpse of hope.

Solsjaer’s men mounted pressure and their efforts were paid off when Victor Lindelof scrambled in a 92nd-minute equaliser.

Emotional Emirates

It was an emotional night at the Emirates as Arsenal fought hard to secure a 2-1 victory against Cardiff City.

Emiliano Sala would have definitely made his debut for Cardiff City but for the tragic disappearance of the light aircraft where he was onboard.

It was Cardiff’s first game after the incidence and second-half goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette ensured the Gunners secured maximum 3 points as a late consolation in extra time from substitute Nathaniel Mendez-laing wasn’t enough to hand the Bluebirds a point.

The result left Cardiff third from bottom, two points ahead of Fulham who staged a great comeback from 2-0 down to beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2 at Craven Cottage.
